Saw this on facebook…a girl refuses a guys sexual advances, so she’s the dick?…I suppose she could have gone about it a better way, told him straight to leave her alone etc, but she’s in the wrong because she won’t be with him? By him buying her flowers she somehow owes herself to him?…I’m not very good with wording these things, but I know somethings not right here…and girls are sharing this on fb, like seriously, do you not know what’s going on here?…go read some Caitlin Moran and educate yourself on feminism.

Well… no. She wasn’t a dick because she rejected him. She was a dick because she behaved like a dick. Sheesh. She doesn’t owe herself to him by any means, but a bit not being so mean (not to mention a straightforward “dude, I’m really not interested” — which is actual rejection) would have gone a long way. Not a whole lot to do with patriarchy or feminism, and a whole bunch down to honesty and civility.
(And yes, that cuts both ways…)
